Queen of Hill Stations, Mussoorie, is one of the famous tourist destinations of Uttranchal. This beautiful hill station is just 34 km from Dehradun and is located at an altitude of 2003 meters above sea level. It is famous for its scenic natural beauty. Mussoorieis situated in the Shivalik Hills which is 35 Km far from Dehradoon,
the capital of Uttaranchal.Wonderful view of extensive Himalayan snow ranges and glittering views of the Doon Valley can be seen from here. Mussoorie has rich forest, flora and fauna.
The place remained undiscovered until 1820 when Captain Young of the British army was influenced by the natural beauty of the place and made it his home. Mussoorie gets its name from the plants of 'Mussoorie' that are found in abundance here.
In summers, the weather in Mussoorie is wonderful and attracts lots of tourists from all over the world. In winters the view of snow clad Himalayan ranges is breathtaking and enchanting. One can easy see Himalayan peaks from Mussoorie. From Gun hill and Lal Tibba, a clear view of China border and Himalayas is seen. A Lal Bahadur Shashtri National Academy of Administrative officer is located here, where training is imparted to the officers of Indian Civil Services (IAS). Apart from these many schools and colleges on National and International level are located here.

Fall
15 kms from Mu ssoorie on the Yamuna off road having an altitude of 4500 feet, it has the distinction of being the biggest and
the most magnificent waterfall located in a beautiful valley surrounded by high mountains. Bath at the foot of the falls is refreshing and enjoyable for children and adults alike.
- Camel's Back Road
It starts from Kulri Bazar near Rink hall and ends at Library Bazar covering a total distance of about 3 kms. The captain yang of Sirmour Rifles kept the name of Mussorie's Back as Camal Back Road. The main charm of this road is horse riding and walking. Camel's rock with a life like resemblance can be seen from the spot near Mussoorie School .
- Nag Devta Temple
An ancient temple situated on Cart Mackenjie Road and is about 6 kms from Mussoorie. Vehicles can go right up to the spot. It provides a charming view of the Doon Valley as well as Mussoorie.
- Mussoorie Lake
A newly developed picnic spot situated on Mussoorie - Dehradun road, 6 kms from M ussoorie. It is a delightful spot. Pedal boats are available. It commands an enchanting view of the Doon Valley and nearby villages.
- Jharipani Fall
This is 8.5 kms from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Jharipani Road . Visitors can go by bus or by car upto 7 kms to Jharipani from where the fall is 1.5 kms on foot.

- Van Chetna Kendra
At a distance of about 3 kms on Tehri by pass road this place is developed as a picnic spot. The park is surrounded by pine forests and flowering shrubs and is approachable by foot or car. The main attraction is the wildlife of the park like Ghurar, Kankar, and Himalayan Peacock etc.

6 kms away, this is the Park estate of Sir George Everest, First Surveyor General of India who had his office and residence there. The highest peak Mount Everest is named after him.

9 kms to the west of Mussoorie and at an altitude of 2104 meters, is the Jwalaji Temple . It is situated on the top of Benog hill and has an idol of Durga Mata in it. The temple is surrounded by thick forests and offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas , Doon Valley and Yamuna Valley .
